Rev. Alyce Hardin-Cook retired from full time ministry as an elder in the West Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church in December 2011.


She was born in Augusta, Kentucky, and was the youngest of two children of Granville and Marie Hardin. Her deceased father, the Rev. Granville N. Hardin was an elder in the West Ohio Conference.


Pastor Alyce attended Ohio University in Athens, Ohio and graduated from the Pontifical College Josephinum in Worthington, Ohio. She received her Masters of Divinity from The Methodist Theological School in Ohio.


Alyce is married to John Christopher Cook. Together they have 4 four grown children and 8 grandchildren and two great granddaughters.

As an ordained Elder in the West Ohio Conference of the UMC, Alyce has served St. Paul UMC, Columbus, Alexandria UMC, Alexandria, Ohio, Bexley UMC (assoc. pastor), Gethsemane UMC, Pickerington, Ohio, Pleasantville UMC, Pleasantville, Ohio and New Life UMC, Columbus, Ohio.

 

She has served on the (then) Newark District and also the Capital area South District Boards of Ordained Ministry as well as 8 years on the Conference Board of Ordained Ministry. She was also a member of the West Ohio Committee on Retirees.


She is Founder and facilitator of J.O.Y. (just older youth) seniors gathering in Columbus.


Her husband, John C. Cook, retired as head locksmith of the Battelle Research Institute in Columbus, Ohio after 47 years of service.

Alyce is a professional seamstress – a family trade on her mother’s side.

She and John love traveling, walking, and entertaining family and friends near and far.

 

 

The Rev. Juan Bustos is our Associate Pastor of Hispanic Ministries. He is an experienced church planter who is building an extensive ministry with the Hispanic/Latino community of Columbus' far westside. He comes to us from San Jose, Costa Rica where he graduated from Seminario Nazareno de las Americas. He lives on the westside with his family who are also actively engaged in his ministry.
